National Seminar on Mental Health in Nursing Science in Finland
The wExchange project participated in the national seminar on Mental health in nursing science organized on 19 January 2024 in Turku. The main theme of seminar was the mental health of young people. The seminar was organized by the Association of Mental Health work Development and Research and was attended by interested mental health experts from various universities, vocational training and clinical practice. The wExchange project was presented via oral presentation by senior lecturer Elina Santala.
The seminar discussed the state of mental health of Finnish youth in the light of research and statistics (University Lecturer Tella Lantta, University of Turku) and temporal changes in mental health of young people (Special research Kaisa Mishina, Child Psychiatry Research Center, University of Turku). Professor Katja Joronen from the University of Turku (Nursing science) discussed the very interesting topic of young people’s mental health and social media. Development manager Piia Karjalainen (Itla Children’s Foundation) spoke about the situation of Not in Employment, Education or Training adolescents and the prevention of problems.
The theme of the wExchange project was well supported by the presentation on cooperation between home and school in supporting young people’s mental health (Public Health Nurse,Master degree, Laura Hasunen). Overall, the seminar was very interesting and it brought a lot to think about point of view of the wExchange project!
