Virtual camp 1
Virtual exchange consist of online people-to-people activities that promote intercultural dialogue without physical mobility.
Within the scope of the Erasmus+ KA2 the “wExchange” project aims at promoting mental well-being through online exchange in secondary schools.
The overall aim of this virtual exchange is to develop peer-to-peer methods to support mental health literacy and to promote teenagers’ mental wellbeing. This work will be done together with pupils, so that the methods focus on everyday life of young people.
The 5-day virtual camp takes place on October the 3rd, 4th, 10th,11th and 12th. During these days, the 80 Finnish, Greek, Portuguese and Slovenian pupils involved (aged 13-16 years), together with the around 20 teachers and health professionals, will develop mental health literacy skills through peer-based activities and virtual exchange educational methods. Afterwards there will be workshops where the pupils will put the knowledge gained from the project into practice. This first online event is expected to be a remarkable experience for all.
Virtual camp 2
The second virtual camp of the Erasmus+ KA2 the “wExchange” project marked the final meeting of the participating students and was designed to place them in the role of facilitators, leading activities they had conceived and organized themselves.
As the overarching aim of the “wExchange” project was to promote adolescents’ mental health and well-being through peer-to-peer learning methods, this second camp represented the most meaningful and effective realization of that goal.
The three-day virtual camp took place in April, on the 15th, 16th, and 17th. During this time, 80 students from Finland, Portugal, Greece, and Slovenia, accompanied by approximately 20 teachers and health professionals, participated in a series of enriching activities. On the first day, they attended an interactive presentation οn the concept of positive thinking and mental health, with a particular emphasis on combating stigma and exploring strategies to strengthen adolescent mental well-being.
Over the following two days, the students took the lead, guiding a diverse range of insightful and creative activities. Through these sessions, it became evident how young people themselves can effectively teach and inspire their peers to recognize and express their emotions, adopt daily habits that support mental health, and cultivate moments of joy and relaxation.
The camp concluded with heartfelt farewell videos, in which participants shared their joy in being part of the project, their gratitude for the invaluable experiences they gained, and the positive impact the program had on them personally, as well as on their school communities.
